The Fluid Model of Service
GS (and other results we have seen) are based on the fluid model of service:
- fluid service at rate R is essentially the service that would be provided by a dedicated path of bandwidth R
- flow’s service is completely independent of any other
Level of service characterized by rate R and buffer B
- only bounded variation from fluid model is ok
