Measuring the RTT
Should be very simple:
- when sending a packet, jot down the time
- when receive the ACK for it, take the difference and call that the RTT
Problem:
- in TCP, no way to tell whether an ACK was for an original or retransmitted packet
- called “acknowledgement ambiguity”
