Results of Congestion
Large queue occupancy implies:
- increased delay
- possible increased jitter
- increased loss probability
Lost packet may trigger retransmissions:
- sending more packets into the network while it is running over capacity exacerbates the congestion problem
- in the limit, leads to congestion collapse
